Day 102: Jesus at IU invitee not just homophobic- turns out he’s crazy racist, too

Christian theologian Doug Wilson will be speaking on campus this Friday on his interpretations of the Bible with regards to same sex relationships (though I doubt he’ll ever dare use the word ‘interpretation’). However, he might very well get some audience questions about his Neo-Confederate racial attitudes. A monograph titled Southern Slavery, As It Was expresses that essentially, slavery in the South was the best thing that ever happened to Black folks. It makes you want to vomit. There have been some great articles about Wilson’s visit in the IDS. I am excited to see what transpires this Friday evening…

Day 98: Playing tonight at the Bluebird: Racism (Why is no one talking about David Allan Coe’s tour stop in Bloomington?)

The Bluebird Nightclub in Bloomington tonight will feature the writer of songs like N***** F***** and other numbers that have crystal clear racist messages. David Allan Coe, a country music singer-songwriter for over 4 decades headlines tonight’s music just blocks from campus. This article from The New York Times is a great starting point to learn a little more about the controversial star. If you can stomach it, you might want to look of the lyrics to some of his songs. Be prepared for some in-your-face racism, misogyny, and homophobia. What were you thinking, Bluebird owners?
